In this Privacy Policy ("Policy"), we describe the type of data, including personal data ("data"), that we collect from you when you use websites and certain software products owned or created by MeteorOwl Ltd. company ("MeteorOwl") as described in this Privacy Policy, how we use and disclose that data.

The following definitions are used throughout this Policy:

MeteorOwl website. Any website that is the property of MeteorOwl, including but not limited to everything hosted under the top-level domains: meteorcalc.com, meteorspec.com, meteorowl.com

MeteorOwl software product. Any software product owned or created by MeteorOwl and provided under MeteorOwl Subscription Agreement, excluding software that can be used by MeteorOwl software products but is not created by MeteorOwl.

MeteorOwl downloadable software product. Any MeteorOwl software product that can be downloaded and installed on a device.

3. What information we collect and how we use it

MeteorOwl collects information for various reasons, such as: to provide you with software, services, or information; to protect us from piracy and unlawful use of our software or services; to improve our offerings based on usage; to protect the rights and interests of MeteorOwl and other users; to promote and market our products and services; to fulfil legal duties stipulated by accounting, taxation and other laws.

We ask for and collect the following personal information about you when you use the MeteorOwl websites and MeteorOwl software products:

3.1 Receiving and using MeteorOwl free and trial products

You explicitly fill in the data required for you to receive and use the MeteorOwl free and trial software. We require you to provide minimum information:

  • names;
  • email address.

3.2 Purchasing and using MeteorOwl paid products

You explicitly fill in the data required for you to purchase the MeteorOwl software or these data are collected in the course of use of MeteorOwl products. We may collect data which are required to provide you with the software, including checking for license validation and updates, provision of updates and support, reporting of issues and bugs, and other processing connected with use of MeteorOwl software, services, or information. We use this information to resolve any issues you are having, respond to your comments and requests, and confirm your purchases and refunds. Categories of data involved in purchasing and using include:

  • company information;
  • names;
  • email address;
  • phone number;
  • username;
  • physical address;
  • information about subscription and payments and tax ID.

3.3 Technical support

You may contact our support team through the web-service or support e-mail. The information you provide to our team, including any troubleshooting documentation or screen shots, are saved as part of your support history. We use this information to resolve any issues you are having, relay feedback to our team, respond to your comments and requests. We also use this data to provide you with security alerts and technical notices. Additionally, we log the date and time you access our support services, as well as any error or crash data.

We use data to help you and fix problems. We may collect data which are required to provide you support and services, including updates, reporting of issues and bugs, and other processing connected with use of MeteorOwl software, services, or information.

We never use automatic sending of data to our support services. The data needed to provide support can be sent to us only by the user's decision. Categories of data involved in support include:

  • names;
  • email address;
  • username;
  • profilename in a CAD platform;
  • information about a CAD platform and OS.

3.4 Obtain educational materials and technical information about MeteorOwl products

When downloading our software products from our websites, you are free to opt-out from receiving various information letters directly to your e-mail. With your consent we may use your contact details to send you technical information and learning materials about our products and services. You may at any time refuse to receive technical information from us by sending an email to info@meteorowl.com

Additionally, you explicitly fill in the data required for you to use support forums, register for webinars, participate in a survey, and/or subscribe to receive marketing and/or technical information and content.

4. Transparency

You provide personal data to us on the legal basis of your consent, expressed when voluntarily submitting and filling your personal data details in website forms, by e-mail, request or inquiries window, etc. and conclusion and performance of contractual arrangements and obligations between MeteorOwl and the user.

Where appropriate, we will prompt you to give us your consent to the collection and processing of your data as described above. This may happen within MeteorOwl products, on MeteorOwl websites, or in another environment set up by MeteorOwl, always in a clear and conspicuous manner.

To respect your privacy, before usage of your personal data, we will inform you about the categories of data we collect and the purposes we use it for. We will also inform you about the data management options that you may have. For this purpose, we use agreements, terms of use, and consent notices embedded in MeteorOwl products and services. You can provide us with an opt-out of certain personal data collection.

You are responsible for the correctness of the personal data you provide to us. We expect you to check the personal data you provide to us and if any inconsistency takes place, update your personal data or report the inconsistency to MeteorOwl.

5. Third party service providers

MeteorOwl contracts with third party service providers. These services may require access to your information in order to help us operate, market, and support our services. For example, MeteorOwl uses third party services to provide hosting, maintenance, backup, virtual computing, storage, payment processing, customer support, data analytics, advertising, marketing, and other services. Our contracts with these services provide for the maintenance, confidentiality, security, and integrity of the information we share with them.

Our websites will set several types of third-party cookie, and we do not control the operation of any of them. We use Google Analytics to collect data about website usage. You can block cookies by activating the setting on your browser that allows you to refuse the setting of all or some cookies.

6. Data sharing

Collected personal data are shared based on License Agreement of products or services in use and this Privacy Policy. We may share your data with our partners - local distributors of MeteorOwl products, which help us provide you with MeteorOwl products for the purposes described above.

Additionally, collected personal data may be shared with other representatives of your company. Your personal data may also be shared with other organizations or individuals if we have obtained your consent to do so.

We may also share your data with certain third parties if we are obliged to do so under applicable legislation (especially with tax authorities or with other government bodies exercising their statutory powers) or if such sharing is necessary to achieve the purposes defined above (especially with government bodies or with parties harmed by your illegal acts, if applicable).

We will ask for your consent before using information for a purpose other than those set out in this Policy.

7. Data security

MeteorOwl Ltd is based in Estonia, which is a member of EU and offers an adequate level of protection for the Personal Information of EU Member State residents.

MeteorOwl takes data security very seriously and implements the industry’s best practices and policies. We take all reasonable measures to protect your information, and to prevent any kind of unauthorized access, misuse, loss, or disclosure. All and any data stored is treated as strictly confidential. All information is stored securely and is accessed by qualified and authorized personnel only.

MeteorOwl has implemented security measures designed to protect the personal information you share with us, including physical, electronic and procedural measures. Among other things, we offer HTTPS secure access to most of websites on our services.

If we are involved in a merger, reorganization, acquisition or sale, we will continue to ensure the confidentiality of any personal data and give all affected users appropriate notices.

8. Your rights

You are entitled to a range of rights regarding the protection of your personal data. Those rights are:

  • the right to access the information we collect about you. You may have the right to obtain from us a confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning you are being collected, and, where that is the case, to request access to your personal data;

  • the right to object to the processing of personal data when processing is carried out on the basis of legitimate interest, and in following cases: use of your personal data for direct marketing purposes or for profiling for direct marketing purposes.

Users have the right to lodge a complaint with the national Data Protection Agency in their country of residence in the event where their rights may have been infringed. However, we recommend attempting to reach a peaceful resolution of the possible dispute by contacting us first.

9. Targeting and marketing

When downloading our software products from our websites, you are free to opt-out from receiving various information letters directly to your e-mail. With your consent we may use your contact details to send you newsletters about our products and services. You are free to opt out of our newsletters at any time. You can do this by sending an email to info@meteorowl.com

GDPR states that your desire to receive/not receive marketing or promotional e-mails is completely separate from other general business uses of e-mail (e.g., e-mail receipt of invoices, product authorization codes and the like).

We may use feedback that you provide voluntarily on our products or services. As permitted by applicable law, we may use this in the form of quotes or in other ways in accordance with the MeteorOwl software products Terms and Conditions. We also may use data that we collect and aggregate to assist us in determining appropriate marketing and advertising for our products and services.

We also use Facebook, Google, as well as other advertising and marketing tools. You should carefully read the privacy policy of these service providers. More information on the targeted advertising, as well as your opt-out rights and other rights, you will find on the respective websites of these service providers.

10. Acceptance of this Privacy Policy

We assume that all visiters of MeteorOwl websites and users of MeteorOwl software products have carefully read this document and agree to its contents. If someone does not agree with this Policy, they should refrain from using servises of our websites, and our software products.

Continued use of MeteorOwl websites and MeteorOwl software products implies acceptance of the revised Policy. This Policy is an integral part of MeteorOwl software products License Agreement and Terms and Conditions.

11. Applicability of this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy is current as of the effective date set forth above. We reserve the right to change this Policy. We will post any Policy changes on our website and, if the changes are significant, we may consider providing a more explicit notice (including, for certain services, email notification of Policy changes).

This privacy policy applies to all websites and software products owned by MeteorOwl. This Policy does not apply to services offered by other companies or individuals, including our local distributors of MeteorOwl products.
